A small solar light that screws to a fence board, a step riser, a deck post or a path edging stone and then looks after itself. The panel charges through the day, it switches itself on at dusk and off at dawn, and there is no wiring, no transformer and no trench to dig.

Warm white is the mode to leave it on — it throws a soft pool down the face of whatever it is mounted to, which is what makes a set of steps readable at night. There is a colour-change mode on the same button if you want it for a party.

Rated IP65, so rain and sprinklers are fine. The housing is plastic with a faceted diffuser that scatters the light rather than glaring. Roughly three inches across, so a run of them reads as a line of light rather than a row of fixtures. Rechargeable battery included.
